Unknown Presentation Topic (Job Interview)

I have an interview next week and will be given 30 min to prepare for an unknown topic. This is with a UK central govermnet agancy in a fairly senior technical role. I will be given just a flipchart.

Any hints on preparing?

Thanks, T

First read our articles Essential Presentation Skills

For visuals make best use of the flip chart

The first stage in preparation is to think about what the most likely questions that they could ask you. This could well be a technical question or could be "What challenges does the department face and how could you help to solve them"

Pick the best topic and then do the exercise as if you were there. In 30 minutes plan out the presentation and then present back - either to a real audience (family or friends) or failing that a video or tape recorder.

Do this exercise a couple of times and you will be as well practiced as you can. Make most use of the flip chart to draw graphs, charts, notes or pictures.

I hope that this helps. Any other questions just drop a line on this board.

Good luck

Hi,

timtim my circumstances are almost the same as yours? Could you give me any feedback about what your presentation involved and how you dealt with it?

Thanks,
