Job Presentation - Where to start?

It's the 3rd stage of my interview and one part is to present a 10 minute powerpoint presentation. It is for a IT sales job and the presentation title is - 'A deal you have won and why you were successful and a deal that you have lost, why and what you have learnt from it.'
Where do i start? Are they really interested in what the deals were or is it to test my presenting skills?

Any help would be appreciated to get me going

Thanks

Yes they absolutely are interested in the actual deals and how you dealt with them. From an interview perspective this can tell them a lot about your personality.

The deal that you one should be fairly self evident but I would supplement it by adding in some documentary feedback that proved it happened. This could be a letter of congratulations or some positive feedback from the customer or even failing that a copy of your commission cheque. Either way you need to make it as visual as possible.

For the worst sale I would not use my actual worst sale as personally for me this showed a complete catalogue of errors which I would not want to repeat out loud unless someone was leaning on me very heavily. Much better to pick a deal which didn't have the desired outcome through no fault of yourself. I'm sure we've all had those as well. The best examples are where you were later able to turn a weakness into a strength e.g. having learnt a lesson that you would not repeat again or where you subsequently got training afterwards. A good example of this would be found on the sales magazine web site under the section called 'my worst sales moment'.

Also before presenting make sure you read our 'Essential Presentation Skills article'

Good luck and please let us know how you get on.
