Interactive, self-running presentation.

I am trying to create a PowerPoint presentation with animations and hyperlinks to use on a stand-alone computer with just mouse interaction.
The animations work fine the first time through the presentation but I have a "Home" link to the first page (and links to various other pages) which when activated brings up the first page but the animations don't animate!
Is there any way of "resetting" the animations after the page has been visited so that when you go back to it the animations animate again?!
I have tried linking to a second PowerPoint file but the same thing occurs again even then.
I am using PowerPoint 2003.
I am not familiar with Visual basic or scripting but if that is what it takes to sort out the problem then I am willing to learn!
Many thanks.
Francis
