MP3 files...

I would like an answer to this question, also. The only way I have been able to do it is to convert my MP3 files to AIFF files on my Mac laptop which has an earlier version of iTunes. I then burn a CD and take it to my newer Mac (OS X 10.4.8). After I copy the songs in a folder, I can insert them in a slide show with no problem. It's a pain... but worth it. I create slide shows for teaching purposes (Kindergarten).
I understand that a newer version of PowerPoint has the ability to read MP3 files. My iTunes (on the second computer) will not allow me to convert MP3 files to AIFF.
Good Luck

Most recent versions of PPT will accept mp3 files if you use Insert > Movies and sounds > Sound from file (In 2007 Insert > sounds)

You cannot use mp3 files as transition sounds or embed them in the presentation unless you add a header (there's a simple tutorial on our site -see sig)

Music from Itunes is nearly always protected and PPT won't accept it.
