movie background

I have a wmv movie file which I would like to play as background on my title slide. Problem is as soon as I play the presentation the movie jumps to the front and covers text which I want displayed. In editing mode the text has definitely been brought to the front and the movie is definitely sent to the back. I am using powerpoint 2000. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have checked this out.

Yes, suprisingly PowerPoint does play all of the movies at the front of the screen - even if they are the bottom layer- or even as a background.

There is no easy way around this - I have two suggestions - none of which are ideal

1. Redesign the template and presentation so that the movie becomes part of the background and does not have anything over the top of it.

2. If the additional text that you were looking to add is subtitles then you could do this with a video editing package like Adobe Premiere or Windows Movie Maker.

3. Convert the video clip to flash and play it in Flash. I have double checked and found that I can put text over the top of a normal Flash sequence embedded in PowerPoint. (I have not converted a Movie to Flash yet, so I cannot 100% confirm this, but I think that it should work)

I hope that this helps

Thanks for that. It was pretty much the plan I had come up with. I have managed to find some really good movie backgrounds from the Animation Factory that would be great as title slides. A lot of them are actually designed as the backgrounds for DVD menus. It looks like I will adding the text to them in Premiere or aome other movie editing package and just play that as the title.
