Music Files in Power Point

I am a rather advanced power point user. However, sometimes when I insert a mp3 file to add music to a presentation, the slide will not transition to the next slide properly.

On a presentation I am working on now I added the theme from the Simpsons and the song "you must have been a beautiful baby"

I added both files the same way. However, the slide with the simpsons theme will not transition after 6 seconds like it is supposed to. THe slide with the beautiful baby song transitions like a charm after the 8 seconds it is set to.

As far as I can tell all the settings are exactly the same.

Yes I even tried to increase the file embedding size.

Any suggestions?

I have just tried it on my machine and an mp3 file works fine - just like a wav.

Which version of PowerPoint are you using?

I have disabled the new animation effects for maximum compatability - so this may help.

To get it going I went to custom animation and under Multimedia settings have slected
Whilst playing: Continue slide show and
Stop playing : Stop after 20 slides

Other than that all I can think about is that it is a bug in the version of PowerPoint that you are using

I also discovered that the hang up occurs when I select the timing tab and select the start playing from button.

If I start the music from the beginning, the slide will advance.

If I start the song half way through the slide will not advance.

I have this same exact problem with PPT 2002. My slides won't advance if I use the start playing from button at all so I don't see what the purpose of it is. If you know the answer can you please tell me as I have spent hours and hours trying to figure it out and all I want to do is play some of my songs starting part way through and want the slides to advance in the process. It looks like it may be a bug in PowerPoint 2002. I have no problems with music playing on my machine, but I run PowerPoint 2003.

Probably the best bet and one that would help the whole presentation community would be if you could report this to my Microsoft as a bug and keep us updated as to what they say.

Can anyone please tell me how to keep custom music running through the entire presentation???

I have just begun to use PP 2003 and I have seen a button on there called :Apply to all slide. This will apply whatever music that you are using to the entire PP. I hope that this helps.
