How to make the most of a presentation that will inevitably be bad?

So basically I haven't had enough time to really know what I'm talking about here - I had a few weeks to learn something and then present it to a couple of academics and it just wasn't enough. I've got bits and peices to talk about but it doesn't all go together in an entirely coherent way.

It'll be a fairly informal affair but given in a lecture style. I'm not sure I've got enough material to cover the allotted time... some tips to stretch out what I've got would be great.

Mostly though I just want this thing to be over and done with, and I'm after some tips on how I can just chill out and not be nervous or embarrassed about the quality of my presentation. How can I just get through this?

Thanks!

As I understand it, you don't have fully knowledge on the topic you are going to talk about due to time constraints. Below is how I will do it, if I am you

1) Quickly talk to the experts - call your friends who has some knowledge on the topic and take there inputs

2) Based on the inputs from the expert and your current understanding of the topic - figure out the core message you wanna communicate

3) Support your core message with 3 supporting messages

4) Build your presentation revolving around core and supporting messages - make it as much focused as possible and avoid touching the topics which you are not comfortable with

5) Avoid taking questions (this is not recommended at all - since you are not comfortable with the topic, don't take questions)

6) If you are getting nervous - there is nothing we can do about . It takes practice to feel much more comfortable during presentations - all i would say for now is, practice your presentation as much as possible. Do the ground work and be well prepared. This will give you the much needed confidence. If you need any assistance with your presentation, feel free to get in touch with me (link attached in my signature)
