PowerPoint rejecting Audio Files - URGENT Advice needed

Hi, I am trying to put a presentation together which uses audio files (mp3's) over jpeg images.

I am putting it togther for an actor friend who uses it as part of his one man show. He provided 6 mp3 audio files and none of them will work in PPT 2002? As far as I know these audio files used to work in an older version of PPT.

I have tried converting them to Wav and Aiff files but these also wouldn't play in the software or once the presentation was palying?

I have tried other mp3's from my music collection and they play fine in the software and the presentation. Strange

I would greatly appreciate any advice on why powerpoint is rejecting these files? Is it a codec issue with different mp3 versions and how do I check for this?

I need to sort it out asap by the 6th as he is off on tour.
