Embedding music to powerpoint

Hello.
I am trying to add music to a powerpoint presentation. I know how to do that, but I'm not sure how to embed it.
I have followed the instructions on this site for converting sounds to wav format and then adding to slide, adjusting settings as necessary for duration of play over how many slides. I have then gone to the tools/options bit and adjusted the "link sounds with file size greater than" to 6000kb, even though the sound itself is only 30.9 mb.
But I still cannot play the sound once I have moved the file (saved as a powerpoint show) to my laptop.

It's driving me insane!!!

You must change the settings BEFORE inserting the sound.

I tried changing the settings before adding music - didn't work.

I tried deleting the music, copying the slide and deleting the original - didn't work.

I tried re-doing the slide from scratch - didn't work.

Am reluctant to re-do the entire powerpoint from scratch (changing the settings as the first job)

Are you sure that you have a wav format sound file?

You wrote your message a while ago now, but I'm seeing it for the first time.

Firstly, I think your problem is that you've set the capacity to 6000kb, which is only 6Mb. for your file of 30.9Mb, you need a setting of >30000Kb.

Secondly, I've done all that stuff (set it to 50000Kb for a wav file of 7Mb before putting the music in), but the file still remains linked, not embedded. What now?
