PPT version compatability
Hi
I have to design and give a 15min PPT presentation for an international meeting in April. I know my way round the program reasonably well but am not sure about compatability. The meeting organisers have stated the following... Each session hall will be equipped with a PC running Windows XP using PPT version 2000. This is compatable with PPT versions 3,4,5,6,7, and '97. Please do NOT bring any other presentation format. ...My computer at work is a networked PC using Windows XP. On looking at the PPT 'About' in 'Help' it states the version is 'PPT 2003 SP1'. I have nightmares about standing on the podium and seeing my text and pictures all over the place. How do I determine that what I create in this version will be compatable with version 2000 ?? Please help, many thanks. Cheers, Karen |

Compatability is sometimes an issue with PowerPoint. There are some differences between the different versions - so try to avoid animation effects and also rotating pictures. The two sure fire ways to test compatability are 1. Send the presentation in advance to the organisers and check that it works on their machine 2. Go along the day before and test it on the machine that you will use - this can also double up as a dress rehearsal. You will also need to double check on the morning of the presentation. This way you should not be tripped up and everything should go well Good luck |

Hi
Thankyou for you reply. I have found a way, I think. There seems to be an option to 'save as' PPT '95 - presumably if my presentation looks the same in this format it should be fine with higher versions ? I sure don't want to have to make changes (have no laptop anyway) the day before giving the talk ! Cheers, Karen |

Good luck with saving as PowerPoint 95. I have used it before but it made massive file sizes.
You may be better getting the file viewed with the PowerPoint 95 file viewer which is - I think still available from the Microsoft website. I hope this helps |

Hi
Thanks for the tip - I'll do this. I have half a mind to save the da...d thing in every format I can find and then take my choice on the day - why, oh why do computers make things so difficult ![]() Cheers, Karen |
