Informative Speech 6 to 8 min

Please help me.I am 59 will be 60 in Sept. and having to go back to school. I know nothing about writing a speech. After being out of school all these yrs. I have to have it plain and simple for me to understand. My topic is "My Favorite Place To Vacation" (Due to the work situation. The furniture plant where I worked closed down. I had been there 18 yrs.

I would imagine that this topic is a bit of a gift

There are three things do do in planning your presentation.

1. Work out the three main messages that you want to get across.

E.g. my favourite destination is Northern France - why?
- The beautiful Brittany coastline
- The food
- The wine

2. Illustrate these points with visuals - your holiday snaps would be a start and you can get other pictures off the web. You could stick these onto large pieces of card

3. Practice out loud at least four times - one of which will be in front of a scary audience.

Also don't be afraid of telling the audience at the start about your situation. For a school they will usually be quite understanding.
