presenting to a group of 200 peers on my role as their specialist
I am doing a 45 minute presentation at my companies next in service. the 3 points that I want to get accross is the issues of the people we serve (people with autism), why it should matter to them (overworked case managers) and how it is to their benefit to use me their specialist (who can consult with them) on their cases ...to lesson their work load??? rather than add more paper work to to do's to their day... I guess my question is...how do I sell my role as their consultant and motivate them to refer their case issues to me, without it seeming like one more thing they'd have to do???
Is that a persuative presentation???? Help!!!! I need something that will keep them awake and motivated?? Thanks |

the answer is in the question
Hi Mitty, you are really answering your presentation in the question you pose.
They are over worked. They dont want more work to do. They dont want more paper work. My suggestion on the content is meet and answer all of the above clearly. 200 people is a large presentation so you will need to control the presentation otherwise the whole thing will turn into a circus. For the style of content use more images and a lot lot less words. More words will mean people reading them (and not listening to you), questioning you about them (taking you off track potentially) When you do use words - make it a statement - big and bold which should underline the messages you are wanting to get across. This style of presentation should then support your delivery and allow you to control your presentation. Simple - Go get em!!!

One more comment
Not only is 200 people a big presentation but that's a very long time you've got there! People can't concentrate for that long, so consider doing three 20 minutes presentations rather than one 60 minute presentation, so to speak.
Change media, change styles, change... well ANYthing to make them think there's a fresh start. Sorry, I'm tired and not clear but I'm sure you can figure out what I mean. S
