Head start a presentation and to attract listener's attention

Could anyone tell me what is the best way to start a presentation and to keep your listener's involved with it. Most of the presentations I have attended, I have seen people yawning after 10 mins, because they have no idea of what's going on. I am a new employee in a software firm, I have developed a tool which I have to demonstrate in front of my seniors 10-15 people. I wonder this might not be a big deal for them but it is for me. How can I make sure that I keep them involved and make sure that I make use of 10 manhours that is being utilized during that presentation. I have made my presentation very simple but I am not getting a head start to it. What is the best way to start my presentation.

An early reply will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The presentation is 10 hours long? or 1 hour (1 for each of the 10 ppl watching )? or it will take you 10 hours to do?

In any presentation, it is important to ensure that the audience does not lose interest in whats going on, so don't put too much information on the screen,a nd don' t go into too much detail, especially if they are not from the same background as yourself.
