Exit Animation Problem
I am new to PowerPoint, but have been using computers and windows and stuff for 25+ years. Here is what I am trying to do:
I have a Slide with text on it. I want the slide to remain displayed until I click on it, whereupon I want the text to fly out and then immediately proceed to the next slide. So I put a exit animation on the text, whose timing start is On Click. Then I went to Slide Transition setting for that slide and set it to Advance Slide "On mouse click" checked. When I run the show, that slide comes up. It *does* stay up until I click on it. *When* I click on it, the text flies out. And then it stays on what is now a blank page until I click AGAIN to get to the next slide. I want it to go to the next slide AUTOMATICALLY after the last exit animation. Using the Slide Transition of "Automatically after *** seconds" doesn't work for me, because the amount of time I would want to spen on that slide is highly variable. If I uncheck the "On mouse-click" option, it gets even worse - now I still get stuck on a blank screen once the text flies out, but now even a second mouse click will not get me to the next slide. How do I make it so that once I click on the slide, the On Click animations play, and when the last one is finished, it advances immediately to the next screen without waiting for another mouse click? Thanks. |

I just tried the "same process" on my computer and it seemed to work fine.
I made some text animate out off of the slide (from the right)....I then choose a slide transition of advance slide at 0 seconds and then I also had some text animate onto the slide from the left. If this is not working for you...you could try animating onto the same slide instead of transitioning to a new slide. This would work ok if your background doesn't change much.... |

In your example, were you able to:
Have the computer wait on the current slide for a click Click Have the text play the exit animation Have the slide advance to the next slide without requiring another click?
With Advance Slide at zero seconds, what happens for me is as soon as I arrive on the slide, without waiting for any clicks, the exit animation plays and it forwards to the next slide. This does not let me pause on this slide at all, let alone for a manually determined time. So you have it working using Advance Slide at zero seconds that it pauses, waits for a click, then plays the exit animations and autoforwards to next slide?? If so, can you include your ppt file in your reply, so I can examine it and see what I am doing wrong? -Sindyr |

Hi
There are two ways I know (and vba of course) to get this effect 1. Add a full slide 99% tranparent shape to the slide. Make it appear with previous as the last animation and give it a mouseover action of next slide. This will work better if you press ctrl A at the start of the show. 2. See http://www.pptalchemy.co.uk/autotrick.html

Slide OVER Slide
Yes, it IS possible, and I did it once
All you have to do is to add the exit animation to the slide, then do the following steps... 1. Insert a new slide (after the slide which you wanna change to newer one with exit animation. I'll call it 'EXIT' slide) 2. Write the title, data, etc. whatever you want to write in the new slide 3. Add the animations you want (The entrance animation SHOULD be used and it should start AFTER PREVIOUS). Understand? 4. (TRICKY STEP!) ![]() click the TITLE text box in the new slide and click its boundry to make text input inactive (so that you can copy the text box). Cut it (Ctrl+X) and paste it on the previous slide(with the exit animations). REMEMBER, paste the title text box EXACTLY in the place where it is supposed to be... Do the same for the material text box (the bigger one, below the title text box). Cut it from the slide and paste it on the 'EXIT' slide. SAVE IT ! Now run the show. DRAWBACK: You cannot print such a slide... but it looks really COOOOOL on the show ! ![]() Regards, -THE Hatryst |
